Biography :

My laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms by which hormones, growth factors, extracellular matrix proteins and metabolites regulate kidney tubule epithelial cell growth and functional differentiation in vitro. Both primary kidney epithelial cell cultures, established kidney epithelial cell lines, and induced differentiated stem cells are utilized to examine the actions of growth regulatory on the expression of proteins associated with the differentiated state. Included amongst these proteins, are those involved in metabolism, membrane transport, renal disease, growth control, and gene expression. Of particular interest in these regards is the renal proximal tubule, which is altered in a number of diseases.
